The Purpose of the UCN is to enhance the sharing of information and coordination among its members, expand opportunities for multi-institutional cooperation, and systematically coordinate resources. Entering this voluntary network by signing a charter does not affect any existing partnerships between or among members. All member institutions remain free to maintain bilateral or multilateral cooperation. The UCN encourages the formation of new strategic partnerships that are financially and logistically sustainable. The UCN is intended to amplify and leverage the collective strengths of member institutions by working together on larger scale projects. Entering the UCN does not guarantee any immediate sources of funding, but opens new and long-term opportunities for research collaboration, academic mobility, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Entering the UCN does not hold any financial obligations on its members.
02/ Vision and Purpose
The United States and the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan maintain a shared commitment and mutual interest to foster sustainable development, scientific collaboration and mutual understanding. The U.S. - Jordan University Cooperation Network (UCN) aims to strengthen strategic and long- term cooperation among U.S. and Jordanian universities to advance joint research, expand academic exchange, and strengthen the quality of higher education and research in both countries. By enhancing opportunities for inter-university cooperation, the UCN seeks to expand mutually-beneficial research and education in support of economic and social bilateral development objectives. to deepen and sustain such cooperation, the UCN will also encourage joint capacity building and professional development.
The Founding Institutional Members of the UCN consists of Universities from the United States and Jordan that met in Amman, Jordan in march 2018 and agreed upon the creation of the UCN by signing a charter of the establishment of the United States - Jordan university cooperation network. Institutional members agree to share, as practical and relevant, information to facilitate the UCN-wide activities and to undertake joint efforts to increase the visibility and viability of the network.
